Gibralfaro castle

The Gibralfaro Castle in Malaga is one of the most beautiful sights in Malaga. The castle is located on top of the Gibralfaro hill, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the port of Malaga and the coast.

Tip: Carry sturdy shoes with you!

Castillo de Gibralfaro was originally a Phoenician fortress. However, in the 14th century it was converted into an Arabian citadel. Today it also houses a small museum. From the castle on a cliff 130 meters high, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Málaga and its surroundings.

Gibralfaro Málaga is located above the Alcazaba and on the Gibralfaro Hill (beacon hill). If you go through the port, you can easily see the mountain and its defensive walls.

Turn left twice after visiting La Alcazaba. Don’t take the bus to go up the mountain, go on foot! The view will be worth it. Stairs in the castle walls lead to the interior of the castle. You can also buy tickets at Alcazaba, including entry to Gibralfaro.
